Our Shared Mission: A Partnership for Patient Care
September 14th through the 20th is Balance Awareness Week. This is more than just a week of recognition; it is a global movement driven by the Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) to make the invisible struggles of millions of people visible. As a national leader in physical therapy and a partner with VeDA, FYZICAL stands at the forefront of this effort. Our shared mission is simple: to help people find their way back to a life in balance.
VeDA is a vital resource. They serve as a beacon for patients who often feel lost, providing clear, reliable information and a crucial support network. For healthcare professionals like us, they offer invaluable resources—from a provider directory that connects patients to specialists to educational materials that help us better serve our communities. Our collaboration with VeDA is a natural one, as we both share a vision for a world where these disorders are understood, diagnosed, and effectively treated.
At FYZICAL, our mission aligns perfectly with VeDA’s vision. We are dedicated to transforming lives by delivering world-class, personalized care. Our Balance Center business model is built on the understanding that balance issues are often complex and require a comprehensive approach. We do not simply treat a single symptom.
We evaluate the entire body to uncover the root cause of a patient’s dizziness or imbalance. This is not just a treatment plan; it is a promise to help our patients regain their confidence and independence.
A Patient's Voice
The unfortunate reality is that many people suffer for a long time without a diagnosis. One study on adult patients found that nearly 40% were diagnosed more than a year after their symptoms began. This diagnostic delay is a problem for adults as well, leaving them with what can feel like a 'life on hold.'
This is why our work is so crucial. I want to tell you about one of my patients, Devin. At 48 years old, she came to us struggling significantly with her balance and dizziness. She felt her life was at a standstill, with her hands tied. Through the right therapy, we were able to recover her balance system. Devin got her life back. Her story is not unique; it is a testament to the fact that effective treatment is possible when people find the right help.
Our Call to Action
This week, we invite our patients and professional colleagues to join us. Use the resources provided by VeDA to educate others, share your stories, and make a tangible impact. We have an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those who suffer from dizziness and balance disorders.
