We can get round both the terms 'preference' or 'dependency' by simply saying that there is a strong visual component to these conditions and give examples eg people with MdDS experiencing worse symptom levels in enclosed spaces when we have our eyes open and people with a current PPPD label feeling worse when in busy visual environments like supermarkets (sick building syndrome doesn't seem to get mentioned, which is interesting) but then figuring out that vista mesh lenses can help cut out some of the sensory processing issues in supermarkets. As have many people with autism and various forms of ataxia, M.S. etc.
